Samsung unveils first Nook tablet
Samsung has unveiled its first Nook-branded tablet, developed with US retailer Barnes & Noble. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is a 7-inch Android tablet combining Samsung's mobile technology with Barnes & Noble's Nook software for e-books and reading. It will be available in more than 660 Barnes & Noble bookstores and online for USD 179 after a USD 20 instant rebate and comes with more than USD 200 in free content from the Nook Store, including books, magazine trials and TV episodes. 

Barnes & Noble decided last year to stop making the Nook tablets and partnered with Samsung to further develop the Nook services on the tablet market. The retailer continues to sell its Nook GlowLight eReader. The Samsung tablet will be available in a choice of black or white, with 8 GB internal storage, Wi-Fi, Google applications, and front and back cameras.

Barnes & Noble to hold on to Nook business

Barnes & Noble announced the filing of a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in order to effect a separation of Barnes & Noble Education (which comprises the Barnes & Noble College business) from Barnes & Noble's Retail and Nook Digital businesses. Barnes & Noble to separate Nook business

Barnes & Noble said it plans to spin off its digital books business Nook into a separate company from its retailing activities. Nook Media is expected to become a separate public company by the first quarter of 2015. Barnes & Noble, Samsung to offer co-branded Nook tablet

Barnes & Noble has struck a deal to develop its Nook tablets with Samsung Electronics. The companies announced a partnership to develop co-branded Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablets that feature the Barnes & Noble digital reading software and services. The companies expect to introduce the first tablet in a 7-inch version in the US in early August.
