
Serbian government abandons Telekom sale

The Serbian government on May 5 adopted a decision not to accept the offer of Telekom Austria to buy 51 percent of Telekom Srbija for EUR 1.1 billion. The government also instructed the Ministry of Finance to inform Telekom Austria of this decision and to end the sale of Telekom Srbija. Serbian Economy Minister Nebojsa Ciric said that citizens will get free shares of Telekom Srbija in the next two months, and the trading of these shares on the stock exchange could start this summer.
