
SoftBank, Sequoia invest USD 100 mln in Tokopedia

Tokopedia, an Indonesian online marketplace has secured USD 100 million in financing from SoftBank Internet and Media (SIMI) and Sequoia Capital, with participation from existing shareholder Pan Asia Fund. With this round of funding, SIMI and Sequoia Capital representatives will join the company's board of directors. Tokopedia plans to use the new capital to focus on customer acquisition, hiring, and other initiatives to strengthen its position on the Indonesian market. This investment is expected to close in mid-December, subject to certain conditions.
