Sony launches Google TV box in Europe

Sony confirmed the launch of its TV devices running Google TV software in Europe. At a press event in the Netherlands, the company said the set-top box is available from 23 August in Germany, France, the UK and the Netherlands for EUR 199. The box connects over HDMI with the TV and also to the internet, allowing users to browse the web as well as apps and content from Google Play and the Sony Entertainment network. Sony is expected to present the product at the Ifa trade show in Berlin next week, and the box will roll out later this year in the rest of Europe.
