Sony licenses smartphone patents to Technicolor
Broadcast and customer premises equipment maker Technicolor has signed an intellectual property collaboration agreement with Sony to strengthen its patent licensing initiative in the field of smartphones. Technicolor has acquired select patents and patent applications from Sony covering a broad range of technologies for smartphones and tablets. Technicolor will be the exclusive licensor of the combined portfolio spanning a broad array of technologies such as LTE, WCDMA, UMTS, Wi-Fi, haptics, video compression, software, user interface, LCD and AMOLED. The agreement also includes a patent license from Technicolor for Sony smartphones, which covers all of Technicolor's smartphone-related patents.

Sony to sell smartphone cameras to OEMs

Sony plans to begin selling smartphone cameras, with an eye on signing up Apple and other smartphone manufacturers as clients, reports the Nikkei. Technicolor H1 revenues down 3.5% to EUR 1.59 bln

French media and entertainment technology company Technicolor reported revenues from continuing operations down 3.5 percent to EUR 1.59 billion in the first half, compared to EUR 1.65 billion in the year-earlier period. M-Go signs up Hollywood studios for streaming service

A new streaming venture run by DreamWorks and Technicolor has signed up Hollywood studios to support its service. Technicolor completes sale of ContentGuard stake

Technicolor has completed the sale of its 25.7 percent stake in DRM technology developer and licensor ContentGuard to US intellectual property solutions provider Pendrell Technologies.
