The mobile products division, which also includes Sony's computer division, recorded an operating loss of JPY 23.1 billion, versus a loss of JPY 6.1 billion a year ago, due mainly to lower PC sales and charges for integrating Sony Mobile. Revenues were flat year-on-year on a pro forma basis, at JPY 300.4 billion, as unit and ASP growth in mobile phones was offset by weaker computer sales.
Sony slightly lowered its forecast for sales over the full year, to JPY 6.6 trillion from an estimate in August of JPY 6.8 trillion, due to the slower economy. The company maintained its outlook for annual operating profit of JPY 130 billion and net profit of JPY 20 billion.
