Sony sees bigger FY loss
Sony expects to report a bigger loss for its fiscal year to 31 March, due to charges for deferred tax assets in the US. The additional JPY 300 billion in tax expense for the fourth quarter means the loss for the year will grow to JPY 520 billion, from the JPY 220 billion forecast in February. In the previous fiscal year, the company generated a loss of JPY 259.6 billion. The company left its sales forecast unchanged at JPY 6.4 trillion, down 10.9 percent from the previous year, and the operating loss is still estimated at JPY 95 billion, versus a profit of JPY 199.8 billion a year earlier. The final results will be announced on 10 May.
