IT services group Sopra Steria has added a new target to its ‘climate action’ plan, committing to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2028. This objective will be reached with new and ongoing initiatives, such as investing in carbon removal projects and continuing the work undertaken internally under the ‘carbon neutral’ programme, which focuses on offices, data centres and the reduction of business travel.
The company has lowered emissions due to activity in its offices and on-site data centres by 64 percent since 2015, while cutting its business travel emissions per employee by 32 percent in five years. It has also transitioned to green energy, with 90 percent of its electricity consumption covered by renewable sources at the end of 2019.
