Sprint, Telstra to carry 5G 'mobile smart hub' built by HTC
HTC has announced that Sprint and Telstra will both carry a 5G "mobile smart hub" built by HTC. This device will serve as a dedicated 5G mobile hotspot, smart device, and much more, and will debut in 2019, HTC also said.

HTC developed the new 5G hub to use 5G speeds and connectivity in a portable design for home, on the go, and enterprise use. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855+SDX 50 chipset powers this device. The product will allow customers to use 5G on multiple devices while on the go, at work, or at home for fast connectivity, content sharing, entertainment. A built-in gigabit Ethernet port offers network compatibility and a large touchscreen allows for advanced visuals.

HTC plans to announce future partners in other regions, including Europe, next year. More specifics about the device, including feature specifications and timing, will be released at a later date.

The 5G Hub works on 5G and 4G networks, and can support up to 20 devices via Wi-Fi. The device also features an Ethernet port and USB-C port. The Hub runs on Android 9 Pie, and includes a 5-inch touch screen.

De Australische operator Optus meldt dat er met succes is getest voor mobiel internet met 5G in het 3,5 GHz-spectrum.
