Sunrise CEO Krause to lead merged group, Pascu named COO

Liberty Global said it has appointed Andre Krause as the new CEO of the combined Sunrise UPC business. He reports to group CEO Mike Fries. Krause is currently the CEO of Sunrise and served at the company as CFO for eight years. He led the transformation of Sunrise’s network, customer service, brand and company culture and supported the IPO on the Swiss exchange in 2015. 

Liberty also said that Severina Pascu will serve as Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer (COO), reporting to Krause. Pascu served most recently as CFO and Deputy CEO of Virgin Media in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Virgin Media, she was CEO of UPC Switzerland, from September 2018 to January 2020. She has spent the last 10 years in management positions to support Liberty Global’s Central and Eastern European operations. Pascu will lead the combined consumer and business organizations, operations and digital functions.

Swiss operator Sunrise has appointed a duo as Chief Consumer Officers, following the departure of deputy CEO and Chief Consumer Officer Severina Pascu. Effective 01 October, Christoph Richartz will become Chief Consumer Officer for the Sunrise brand, responsibile for all activities with the main brand Sunrise. Stefan Fuchs will become Chief Consumer Officer for the Flanker Brands, looking after the groups second brands. Both have been appointed as members of the Sunrise Executive Committee.

SIX Exchange Regulation approves delisting of Sunrise shares

The SIX Exchange Regulation (SER), which monitors issuers on the Swiss stock exchange, has approved the delisting of shares in Sunrise. The shares have a nominal value of CHF 1.00 each. The last trading day and the effective date of delisting will be determined when the legally binding cancellation decision ("squeeze-out") in accordance with article 137 of the Financial Market Infrastructure becomes available.

Sunrise UPC names executive committee

Sunrise UPC has announced its new executive leadership team, following the merger of the two Swiss operators. They include executive from both Sunrise and UPC Switzerland. The team will start work immediately on integration, led by the CEO Andre Krause.

Liberty Global completes acquisition of Sunrise

Liberty Global said it has completed the acquisition of Swiss operator Sunrise. The company owns 98 percent of the shares in Sunrise after settlement of the tender offer. It will start a squeeze-out according to the Swiss Financial Market Infrastructure Act. Liberty Global plans to delist Sunrise's shares from the SIX Swiss Exchange after completing the squeeze-out.

Sunrise appoints new Liberty board members at EGM

Swiss operator Sunrise has elected the CEO of Liberty Global, Mike Fries, as Chair of the Board of Directors at the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of shareholders. Fries will hold the position until the closing of the next AGM. The shareholders of Sunrise also elected the representatives of Liberty Global Miranda Curtis, Manuel Kohnstamm, Andrea Salvato, Marisa Drew, Thomas D. Meyer, Joseph Deiss and the CEO of UPC Switzerland Baptiest Coopmans as new members of the Board of Directors.

Swiss regulator approves transfer of Sunrise spectrum licences in UPC takeover

The Swiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom) has approved the transfer of Sunrise's radio licence as part of its takeover by Liberty Global. Sunrise will continue to meet the licensing requirements after the takeover by Liberty Global, the regulator said. Moreover, the company continues to have the necessary technical capabilities to provide its customers with mobile services.

Sunrise, UPC Switzerland receive competition commission approval for merger

Swiss operator Sunrise said that competition commission Comco has approved its takeover by UPC Switzerland, a subsidiary of Liberty Global. Comco granted approval for the merger without conditions or stipulations. Sunrise shareholders had tendered 96.48 percent of its fully diluted share capital to UPC Switzerland, and Liberty Global intends to start a squeeze-out and delist Sunrise from trading on the SIX Swiss Exchange.

Sunrise names new CCO, chief YOL segment officer

Swiss operator Sunrise said it has appointed Giuseppe Bonina, the current Chief YOL Officer and member of the executive leadership team, as the new Chief Consumer Officer, effective on 01 September. Christoph Richartz, current director for consumer sales, has been named new Chief YOL Officer and member of the executive leadership team, also effective 01 September.

Sunrise names Uwe Schiller as new CFO following management reshuffle

Swiss operator Sunrise has appointed Uwe Schiller, Senior Vice President Finance and Investor Relations, as the new CFO. Schiller succeeds Andre Krause, who became CEO on 03 January following the departure of Olaf Swantee. Sunrise also announced that Bruno Duarte, Chief Consumer Officer, will leave the company.

Sunrise CEO departs, chairman and vice-chairman will not stand for re-election at next AGM

Swiss operator Sunrise has announced that CFO Andre Krause has taken over the position of CEO after the resignation of Olaf Swantee. Swantee has been the Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise for the past four years. He will continue to support the work of the new CEO until the Annual General Meeting in April, in order to ensure a smooth transition.
