Switzerland's competition regulator (Weko) approved the merger of the two local search engines Local.ch and Search.ch. Although the merger causes the joint venture to be a dominant player in the market for directory services, Weko does not expect the elimination of effective competition in the market. Therefore the conditions for blocking the deal are not fulfilled, and Swisscom can acquire Search.ch from Tamedia. As a result, Swisscom will own 69 percent of the shares and Tamedia will have a 31 percent stake.
