Switzerland keeps top spot in Netflix speed index, Telefonica improves most

Switzerland remained the fastest country for receiving Netflix in July, with an average speed delivered by local ISPs of 4.28 Mbps, while Belgian ISPs moved into a clear second place with 4.09 Mbps. Luxembourg and the Netherlands were tied for third place, with an average speed of 3.99 Mbps, according to the latest Netflix Speed Index.

Spain's Telefonica showed the biggest improvement in speed compared to June, rising to 3.01 Mbps from 2.36 Mbps. However, the incumbent remained in eighth place in Spain, well behind market leader Euskaltel with an average 3.86 Mbps. India's Spectranet also showed improvement in June, rising to 3.19 Mbps from 2.69 Mbps the month prior and reclaiming the No. 1 spot in India. 

Eleven new countries were added to the index this month, with Romania debuting as the fastest in sixth place worldwide. Iceland came tenth, Hungary 22nd, Turkey 26th, Poland 30th, Israel 35th, Kuwait 37th, Saudi Arabia 39th, Greece 42nd, South Africa 54th and Bolivia 57th. In total Netflix tracks 59 countries in the speed index.
