T-Mobile US to test 5G with Ericsson, Nokia
T-Mobile US announced at Mobile World Congress that it is developing a 5G pre-standards based test systems for lab and field trials with Ericsson and Nokia starting in the second half. T-Mobile and Ericsson will jointly evaluate the performance and applicability of potential 5G key technologies. T-Mobile and Nokia will use spectrum in the 28 GHz band to trial and test 5G components and use cases that support massive bandwidth capacity and nearly zero latency.

Nokia, Ericsson support latest T-Mobile US network tests

Nokia and Ericsson announced that they are helping T-Mobile US prepare its network for gigabit LTE speeds. T-Mobile announced recently that it conducted lab tests that achieved speeds of nearly 1 Gbps over LTE. Nokia said the company used its 4.5G Pro technology for the test at T-Mobile's lab in Bellevue, Washington. US govt starts 5G research project, to build 4 city testbeds

The US government announced the start of the Advanced Wireless Research Initiative (AWRI), a public-private partnership spearheaded by the White House to accelerate the development of next-generation mobile networks in the US. Led by the National Science Foundation, the USD 400 million programme will enable the deployment and use of four city-scale testing platforms for advanced wireless research over the next decade, building on the spectrum just approved for 5G by the Federal Communications Commission.

FCC urged to open up more lanes for 5G

The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), an advocacy organisation based in Washington, said it supports a FCC petition on facilitating the deployment of 5G networks and giving mobile users better, faster internet access.
