T-Systems hands mainframe services over to IBM in deal worth EUR 860 mln - report

Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems is handing its mainframe services over to IBM, reports Handelsblatt. In May, 400 employees in six countries will join the US IT company, according to an internal statement seen by the newspaper. T-Systems stated officially that the transaction was not a sale of the business unit, the website Golem.de reported.

The news portal IT-Zoom said the deal is worth EUR 860 million. A Telekom spokesperson said that IBM and T-Systems would deepen their cooperation in the field of mainframe services. This is a so-called make-or-buy deal, writes Golem.de without citing sources. This means that T-Systems will continue to keep the customer relationships and it will continue be paid directly in the future.
