TDC considers takeover bid for Com Hem - report
Danish operator TDC is weighing a takeover bid for Swedish cable firm Com Hem, sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. TDC is sounding out banks to fund a deal that could value the cable operator at more than SEK 11.7 billion (USD 1.56 billion) based on its current market price, the sources said. 

Talks to combine the two companies started earlier this year, before Com Hem went public in June, and have been on and off since then, two of the sources said, cautioning that discussions could still fall through. Private equity firm BC Partners still has a 47.6 percent stake in the business and is hoping to recoup part of its investment through a deal with TDC, the sources said. TDC and BC Partners declined to comment as did a spokesman for Com Hem. 

In October, TDC completed the acquisition of Norwegian cable operator Get. TDC also offers cable services under the YouSee brand in Denmark.

Danish telecommunications group TDC said that mutual funds managed by the Capital Group Companies (CGC) acquired enough stock in TDC on 05 February 2015 to raise their share of its capital and voting rights beyond 15 percent. These mutual funds hold 124,411,886 shares with a nominal value of DKK 1 in TDC, or 15.322 percent of the total capital and votes. The mutual funds have granted proxy to companies in the CGC Group to exercise voting authority over the shares.

Com Hem cuts Q4 net loss, names new CFO, returns capital

Com Hem said it lifted revenue, expanded its customer base and reduced its net loss in the fourth quarter of 2014, and it announced a new CFO and a capital return programme. The fixed line operator said revenue rose 10.4 percent to SEK 1.229 billion in the fourth quarter of 2014 from SEK 1.114 billion a year earlier, up 4.3 percent on an organic basis. Consumer ARPU was stable at SEK 361 while property owner (landladies and landlords) ARPU fell to SEK 33 per month from SEK 35 in the third quarter of 2014.

TDC sees sales fall continuing in 2015

Danish operator TDC met its outlook for a smaller decline in organic sales in 2014 than the previous year. Organic revenue fell 2.5 percent, excluding the acquisition of Get in Norway, compared to a 3.5 percent fall in 2013. Reported revenues were down 2.7 percent to DKK 23.34 billion. TDC wins contract from Stockholm city council unit

TDC of Denmark has won an IT infrastructure supply contract from Stockholm city council subsidiary Sankt Erik in Sweden. The agreement runs for four years and has a total value of about DKK 142 million. TDC Nordic will provide operating services, installation and security for the council's data network, and will supply S:t Erik with LAN and WAN grids. TDC launches beta version of Blockbuster video service

TDC said it has begun providing video online under the Blockbuster name, gradually phasing in rental and sales of the latest feature films and television serials and series. It is now in the beta phase, enabling customers to give their input so that TDC can fine-tune the service. The service will be available on major platforms such as Samsung Smart TV and Sony PlayStation, but it will be some time before it matures, said TDC.

Norwegian cable company Get is offering free film rental over Advent. From 01 to 26 December, there will be one free feature film per day, and Get will also be playing Christmas music around the clock on channel 333 on the Get box without any advertising or speech. Danish govt publishes broadband competition analysis

The Danish Ministry of Trade and Growth said it is putting an analysis of competition in the broadband sector out for public consultation. The hearing finishes on 19 January 2015. In its summary, the analysis said the Danish broadband market is highly concentrated, with TDC having a market share of about 60 percent. The analysis was completed before Telia Denmark and Telenor Denmark announced that they were bringing their Danish operations into a joint venture, the ministry noted.

Get, Alltele climb in Netflix November Nordic ISP rankings

Netflix has published its Nordic ISP speed rankings for November 2014. The biggest change was in Norway, where Get swapped places with Altibox to become the leader, and where NTE switched places with Loqal and came third. Com Hem runs Christmas offer for Galaxy, DMTECH tablets

Com Hem lifts Q3 fixed telephony user base, turns net profit

Com Hem turned a net profit of SEK 7 million in the third quarter of 2014, up from a net loss of SEK 82 million in the same period of 2013. TDC slows revenue decline in Q3

Danish operator TDC reported third-quarter revenues down 4.8 percent to DKK 5.643 billion, while EBITDA fell a slower 3.1 percent to DKK 2.512 billion thanks to cost reductions.
