
Telefonica has announced the details of its first OTT platform for customers of all Spanish operators at an event in Madrid. The service will be called Movistar+ Lite and will be open to all customers and all devices on the market via a standalone app from 05 June. Movistar+ Lite costs EUR 8 a month, with the first month available for free and with no permanence clause. "We’re going to revolutionise the audiovisual market in Spain,” said Movistar+ head Sergio Osle. “The name may be Movistar+ Lite but our is ambition is large," he added in a statement.
Content available at launch includes the channels Movistar Series, Movistar Seriesmania, sports-themed Vamos, entertainment-based #0, as well as Fox, TNT, Comedy Central and AMC. The Vamos channel alone comes with more than 20 sporting competitions including Wimbledon, NBA, Endesa League, Serie A, Ligue 1, SuperBowl, Indycar and Diamond League, said Telefonica. A catalogue of 300 series, 270 movies and 60 more programmes will also be available on demand. Content can be accessed on two devices at the same time in HD (720p) quality on TVs and PCs and in SD (576p) on mobile devices.
