Telenor cooperates with Google Cloud to improve digitisation services capacity

Telenor has signed a partnership with Google Cloud to explore areas of cooperation and define strategic initiatives. Focus areas include strengthening Telenor’s technology capabilities, joint go-to-market activities, joint innovations, and bringing digitisation to everyone.

As the network is increasingly software-based, Telenor is looking at ways to take advantage of Google Cloud’s expertise in data management, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI/ML), as well as the company’s infrastructure, to bring complimentary technologies to Telenor’s customers and society overall.

To strengthen Telenor’s technology capabilities, the partners aim to look at ways to apply Google Cloud’s services, global data centre network and security capacities. They will seek to improve services to customers by using Google Cloud’s data, analytics and AI/ML and help clients and industries to face digital modernisation challenges.

In terms of joint go-to-market activities, Telenor and Google Cloud will collaborate on expanding horizontal and vertical services to create new, scalable revenue streams.

Turning to joint innovations, Telenor and Google Cloud will enhance the capabilities of current and future products, develop new and modern industry product and services, and enable cost efficiencies. This may include developments to the next generation of virtual network function and edge computing, focusing on IoT and 5G.

Looking at bringing digitisation to everyone, Google Cloud and Telenor will join forces to help businesses get online, and guide them through digital modernisation by providing access to support teams and next-generation products. The aim is to look at ways that products are developed, how businesses are responsibly run, at diverse ways of working, and supporting society.
