Telenor mulls India ops sale for USD 1.8 bln - report

Telenor plans to sell its telecom operations in India. The operator is looking for a valuation ranging between USD 1.6 billion and USD 1.8 billion (approximately INR 110 – 120 billion), The Economic Times reports, citing two unnamed people familiar with the matter. 

However, market experts claim Telenor may at best be able to get around USD 1 billion (INR 68 billion), with spectrum being the main saleable asset. A Telenor spokesperson declined to comment.

Telenor India ended 2015 with 42.6 million customers. The operations have only recently started turning a small EBITDA profit.

Vodafone is the frontrunner to acquire Telenor's operations in India, ET reports, citing two unnamed people with knowledge of the matter. Telenor grows organic revenue 1.5% in Q1

Telenor reported organic revenue growth of 1.5 percent in the first quarter and maintained its outlook for 2-4 percent growth over the full year. Telenor in talks with operator to expand India ops

Mobile operator Telenor is in talks with an undisclosed operator to expand its Indian operations nationwide from the current six circles, ET reports, citing Telenor CEO Sigve Brekke. The statement was made at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. "We are in discussions with someone for expanding to all India, but cannot comment if we will do it", Brekke said. The CEO declined to name the company involved in these talks.

Telenor India adds 1.8 mln subscribers in Q4

Telenor India (formerly Uninor) added 1.8 million subscriptions during the fourth quarter of 2015, for a total 42.6 million at end-December. At the end 2015, the subscription base was 16 percent higher than at the end of 2014. Telenor's India operations saw fourth-quarter total revenues of NOK 1.436 billion, up from NOK 1.187 billion a year ago. Total revenues in local currency increased by 3 percent.

Telenor is in talks to acquire Videocon Telecom's 4G spectrum in the Uttar Pradesh (East) and Bihar circles, The Economic Times reports, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
