Telenor Norway named world's fastest mobile network in Q2, T-Mobile Netherlands second - Ookla

Telenor Norway said that Ookla has called its mobile network the fastest network in the world, judging by the results of Ookla's Speedtest app in readings taken by customers in the second quarter. It said the operator's average download speed was 72.05 Mbps, based on 58,579 tests.

Doug Suttles, CEO of Ookla, said when considering the sheer number of networks on any continent, let alone the whole planet, Telenor Norway's accomplishment "is truly staggering". He added that Telenor Norway has set the standard that other mobile operators should strive for.

In second place was T-Mobile Netherlands with an average download speed of 70.05 Mbps in the second quarter, based on 72,196 readings. Third came Nova of Iceland with 67.83 Mbps, although this was based on just 2,928 readings.
