Telkom appoints Maseko as new CEO
South Africa operator Telkom has appointed Sipho Maseko as its new CEO, replacing outgoing CEO Nombulelo Moholi who announced her resignation in November 2012. Maseko will take over from Moholi on 01 April. Maseko was the former Vodacom COO, and before joining Vodacom served as CEO of BP Southern Africa. Maseko holds a BA LLB from the University of Natal. Telkom also announced that it is appointing Brian Armstrong as Group COO. Telkom chairman Jabu Mabuza said the appointment of a seasoned executive with telecommunications experience is another building block in Telkom's turnaround process.

Telkom board probes allegations CEO cloned car plates

South African operator Telkom said that it will probe allegations that CEO Sipho Maseko cloned car licence plates to avoid traffic fines. According to Bloomberg, company spokesman Pynee Chetty said the case is "in no way related" to Telkom. South Africa operator Telkom has announced the appointment of Miriam Altman as Head of Strategy of Telkom Group with effect from 10 June. Telkom South Africa said its full-year earnings fell at least 20 percent. Headline earnings per share for the year ended 31 March will be no less than a fifth lower than the ZAR 3.247 reported last year. South African operator Telkom announced that CEO Nombulelo Moholi has notified the company of her intention to step down before the end of her contract period.
