Telkomsel launches Google Free Zone
Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has launched Google Free Zone. The service offers access to select Google services on internet-enabled mobile phones without any data charges. The first page of a website linked from Google Search results is also provided at no data cost. The service was developed by Google to target emerging mobile markets and is currently available in the Philippines via Globe Telecom, South Africa via 8ta, and now in Indonesia via Telkomsel.

Google launches Wi-Fi internet access in Jakarta

Google has introduced a Wi-Fi internet access service in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Wi-Fi Passport service is available for Android device users through an app on Google Play with vouchers offered through MOGPlay. Vouchers are available at IDR 20,000 for twenty days or IDR 50,000 for fifty days. Google is currently also offering free promotional vouchers valid for ten days. Data usage is limited at 3 GB per day or 7 GB per seven days and 10 GB over thirty days.

Sri Lankan mobile operator Dialog Axiata has introduced Free Zone powered by Google. The service will provide Dialog mobile users with access to Google search, e-mail, and social networking without incurring data charges, The Nation reports. Mobile users can also visit websites through Google search without incurring data charges.
