Tesla and Spotify have partnered to provide voice-controlled access to the streaming platform's back catalogue while driving, the Telegraph reported. Tesla's Model S electric car series will ship with Spotify Premium integration, replacing former music partner Rdio, in Europe, Australia and Hong Kong.
The account will only work within the vehicle. Users will need an existing or new Spotify account to listen outside the car. Current Model S owners will also be able to use the feature thanks to an over-the-air software upgrade.
Existing Premium Spotify accounts can be linked to the vehicle to listen back to favoured playlists, radio stations and artists. Drivers will be able to choose tracks from Spotify's 30 million-strong back catalogue through voice search once the driver has pressed a voice control button on the steering wheel of new models, or through the dashboard's touch screen display.
