Thai state operators TOT, CAT discuss mobile merger
Thailand's state-owned operators TOT and CAT Telecom have discussed a possible merger of their mobile businesses to help ensure their long-term survival. CAT president Sanpachai Huvanandana said that after the merger, the two agencies would ask the government to extend their spectrum licences to support their long-term plan, The Nation reports.

TOT president Montchai Noosong said that after they completed the merger plan, they would submit it to the State Enterprise Policy Commission for consideration. The two agencies will also submit for the commission’s consideration on January 9 their plans to merge their broadband businesses into one company and their internet data-centre businesses and international internet gateway businesses into another company.
