TPG Telecom to launch Public Safety Mobile Broadband trial with Nokia

Australian operator TPG Telecom has been selected as lead mobile network operator to deliver the multi-operator Public Safety Mobile Broadband (PSMB) network Proof of Concept (PoC) trial in partnership with Nokia. The trial programme, signed by the New South Wales Government on behalf of all states, territories and the Commonwealth, will provide a mobile broadband platform for emergency service organizations.

The trial is designed to improve access to information, providing real-time, automated situational awareness and enabling new technologies to be integrated into operational practices. TPG Telecom has been working with the Commonwealth, states, territories, emergency service organisations and delivery partners to develop the multi-operator service for the PSMB network.

TPG Telecom FY revenue, profit 'relatively resilient' despite NBN migration, Covid impact

Australian operator TPG Telecom reported a net profit after tax of AUD 734 million for the twelve months ended 31 December 2020. This includes a one-off, non-cash credit to income tax expense of AUD 820 million. Reported revenue increased 24 percent from 2019 to AUD 4.35 billion, while EBITDA jumped 18 percent to AUD 1.39 billion.

Australian operator TPG Telecom has appointed marketing executive Kieren Cooney to the role of group executive consumer. Cooney, who will take up its new position in March, will report to the CEO and join the TPG Telecom Executive team. In his new role, Cooney will lead TPG Telecom's commercial strategy for consumer across the company's portfolio of brands, including Vodafone, TPG and iiNet.
