True taps ZTE for 5G commercial network deployment in Thailand

Thai operator True has selected ZTE to build a commercial 5G network in Thailand. True plans to adopt ZTE's 5G RAN products and services to build a commercial 5G network across the country. Under the terms of the contract, ZTE will provide True with 5G 64TR/32TR/8TR/4TR macro stations and single-band/multi-band indoor QCell, to build a tri-band 5G network on the 700MHz, 2.6GHz and 26GHz bands.

Since 2019, ZTE has been working with True in various technical tests, jointly verifying multiple 5G products, including 3.5GHz 64-channel Massive MIMO, 2.6GHz 64-channel Massive MIMO and 2.6GHz QCell. In addition, ZTE and True have verified 5G technologies such as downlink 16-stream MU-MIMO and 4/5G carrier dynamic sharing.

Thailand's True selects Ericsson 5G RAN

Thai communications service provider True selected Ericsson as 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) vendor as part of its national 5G network. Products and services from Ericsson Radio System will allow True to operate 5G on 700MHz, 2.6GHz and 26GHz frequencies in the North, Central-West, and Upper South regions of Thailand. Roll-out got underway in March immediately following Ericsson's selection as a 5G vendor.

Thai operator True Move H Universal Communication has announced it has fulfilled the conditions for obtaining the 2600 MHz spectrum license. In Thailand's February auction, True Move H secured spectrum in the 2600-2690 MHz range at a price of THB 17.87 billion, and 26 GHz frequencies in the bands 24.3-25.1 GHz at a price of THB 3.57 billion. The total cost of its bids reached THB 21.44 billion.
