Twitter prices USD 1 bln convertible note offering
Twitter is planning the issue of a USD 1 billion convertible note offering. The private placement of senior unsecured notes due 2024 was priced at a 0.25 percent coupon. Of the expected USD 999 million in net proceeds, Twitter said it will use USD 70.6 million to pay a number of convertible note hedge transactions, with the rest going towards general corporate purposes. 

Twitter shares were admitted earlier this week to the S&P 500, from 7 June.

Twitter lifts profit, revenues but loses users in Q2

Following a strong start to the year, Twitter delivered another set of solid results for the second quarter, with revenues rising 24 percent from the year earlier to USD 711 million. Including the discontinued TellApart platform, revenues went up 27 percent. Advertising made up the bulk of revenue, jumping 23 percent to USD 601 million, with total ad engagements leaping 81 percent and cost per engagement falling 32 percent. Data licensing and other revenue meanwhile increased 29 percent to USD 109 million.

Twitter has announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based Smyte, technology company specialising in safety, spam and security issues.

Twitter to expand in Mena as video viewing increases

Social media networking service Twitter is expanding in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) as it registers significant growth in online video viewing, especially in Saudi Arabia, The National cited regional managing director Benjamin Ampen as saying. Twitter is a private company and does not provide a regional breakdown for revenue, user base or other barometer of financial performance.
