UPC Ireland to adopt Virgin Media brand
Cable operator UPC Ireland has confirmed that it will adopt the Virgin Media brand. All operations, products and services will move to the new brand, with further details to be announced in due course. The Irish company became part of Liberty Global's UK subsidiary, Virgin Media, in December 2014. Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockeridge said there were exciting plans in the pipeline to step up competition for consumers.

Virgin Media launches mobile services in Ireland

Virgin Media has launched mobile services in Ireland from 05 October. To promote the launch, current customers can get Virgin Mobile Unlimited for free for the first three months, and EUR 25 a month after that. It is also offering a 1 GB mobile plan for EUR 15 per month, which includes 1 GB data, 250 minutes and 250 texts. Mobile prices for Virgin Media customers start from EUR 15. Virgin to hike broadband-only prices by GBP 1.75 a month

Virgin Media is increasing its charges for broadband-only customers again, the fourth increase since 2013, reports The Telegraph. Customers will be informed from 21 September that prices will rise by GBP 1.75 a month from start-November. Virgin to provide Manchester firms with ultrafast broadband

Virgin Media Business plans to provide ultrafast broadband access for more than 300 building in Manchester's Northern Quarter, reports the Financial Times. Each building will get a 1 Gbps fibre connection which can be split between tenants. The roll-out will benefit 3,000 mainly smaller businesses and start-ups. UPC Ireland ends Q2 with 1.09 million RGUs

Liberty Global's Irish subsidiary UPC Ireland ended Q2 2015 with a total of 1.09 million revenue generating units (RGUs). This included 379,300 video, 367,300 internet and 352,400 telephony RGUs. It added 1,500 internet and 2,800 telephony RGUs in the second quarter, with a net loss of 7,200 video RGUs, for a total Q2 net loss of 2,900 RGUs. UPC Ireland to acquire TV3 for EUR 80 million

Liberty Global subsidiary UPC Ireland has signed an agreement with Doughty Hanson to acquire Irish commercial broadcaster TV3 for EUR 80 million. An extra sum of up to EUR 7 million is payable based on TV3 hitting certain targets.
