US ITC rules against InterDigital in Nokia, ZTE patent case
Wireless licensing group InterDigital said that an initial determination by the US International Trade Commission, in the case involving Nokia and ZTE, did not come in its favour. The decision means the ITC do not believe Nokia and ZTE infringed on InterDigital patents. InterDigital said that it will evaluate its course of action and likely petition for review once the detailed decision is available. The company said it may also appeal the case to the Federal Circuit, where two of the three patents in this case have seen favourable decisions.

Delaware jury says ZTE infringed 3 InterDigital patents

Licensing group InterDigital said that it has prevailed in a jury verdict involving ZTE, before the US District Court in Delaware. The jury found that three patents in the case were both valid and infringed, namely the "power ramp-up patents" and US patent number 8,380,244. The judge will hold another trial to determine ZTE's infringement on US patent number 7,941,151 (151).

The US International Trade Commission has ended its investigation in to alleged violations by ZTE and Nokia of patents held by Interdigital, finding no signs of infringement. Interdigital said it was disappointed by the decision, as it goes against earlier court rulings on the same patents. It plans an appeal in federal court. Interdigital filed the suit against Nokia and ZTE in 2013, alleging unfair trade practices for selling certain 3G and 4G devices that violated seven of its patents.

The company said it was disappointed by the decision and plans to appeal in federal court.
