US to charge four hackers in Yahoo data breach - report

Officials at the US Department of Justice are about to indict four people in connection with the online security breaches at Yahoo, reports Bloomberg, citing an unnamed source. One of the alleged hackers is based in Canada and may be arrested imminently, while the other three are currently in Russia, said the source. Yahoo remains in cooperation with state, federal and foreign governments regarding security breaches in 2013 and 2014 that affected more than a billion accounts.

The data breach helped Verizon secure a USD 350 million price reduction for its planned takeover of Yahoo’s web business to USD 4.48 billion after agreeing to share liability of any future damages.
