Verizon to start iPhone sales on 3 February

US mobile operator Verizon Wireless confirmed it will start offering a CDMA version of Apple's iPhone on 3 February, ending AT&T's exclusivity on the Apple phone. Existing Verizon customers will be able to pre-order the handset first, with sales opening to the general public on 10 February. Verizon will offer the iPhone 4, which features iOS 4, Apple's A4 chip, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording, FaceTime video calls and access to the App Store. The phone will also be able to share its mobile data connection with up to five other Wi-Fi devices. The iPhone will sell for USD 199.99 for the 16GB model and USD 299.99 for the 32GB model with a new two-year contract, at Verizon and Apple shops. At the press conference on the iPhone launch in New York, Verizon also said it will start offering a mobile version of Apple's iPad. It currently only stocks the Wi-Fi version of the tablet. Verizon CFO Francis Shammo confirmed the news to Bloomberg but declined to say when the mobile device would be available.
