Verizon unveils Verizon Visa Card

Verizon has introduced the new Verizon Visa Card, with rewards and no annual fee. The card will officially launch on 26 June but earlier applicants could get up to USD 1,000 Verizon Dollars if approved. 

Under the rewards scheme, users will save 4 percent on gas and grocery shopping, 3 percent for dining, including takeout and curbside pickup, 2 percent for Verizon products and services and 1 percent for everything else. Users can also earn Verizon dollars which can be used to pay for anything related to Verizon, including their monthly Fios or mobile bill or towards the purchase of a new device. 

Customers will also be able to add the card to their mobile wallets for digital and contactless use. The card is issued by Synchrony.

Verizon Q2 revenues fall 5% on drop in wireless, advertising

Verizon reported a small increase in second-quarter net earnings, despite lower revenues, and said it still expects roughly flat earnings in the full year. Sales at the US operator were down 5.1 percent to USD 30.4 billion in Q2, hurt by lower handset sales due to store closures during the coronavirus outbreak as well as reduced usage and roaming by customers. The company said wireless service revenues fell 2.7 percent year-on-year to USD 13.1 billion and forecast a figure flat to 1 percent lower in Q3.

US credit union UNFCU partners with Thunes on international mobile wallet transfers

United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) partnered with Thunes, a cross-border payments network. The collaboration enables UNFCU members to transfer money to mobile wallets in selected countries in local currencies. Rogers' MVNO Chatr has launched two new credit cards, the Chatr Secured Mastercard and Chatr Mastercard. The first card offers guaranteed approval to eligible customers.
