Verizon Wireless to pay out USD 8.5 bln to shareholders
Verizon Wireless' board of representatives has declared distributions totaling USD 8.5 billion to its owners, Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group. The pay-out will occur on or prior to 31 December. The distributions will be paid in one or more tranches, with each tranche paid in proportion to the owners' stakes in the company. The mobile operator is a joint venture between Verizon Communications, which owns 55 percent and Vodafone Group, which owns 45 percent.

Verizon Communications has announced it will redeem USD 700 million of its 8.75 percent Notes, due 1 November 2018. There are USD 2 billion in principal amount of the Notes currently outstanding. The Notes to be redeemed will be selected in accordance with the terms of the indenture governing the Notes and the applicable procedures of The Depositary Trust Company. Home improvement retailer Lowe's and Verizon have announced that customers of Lowe's Iris smart home service will now be able to use Verizon's wireless network for remote monitoring and management of their homes.
