Viettel launches 4G service
Vietnamese operator Viettel has launched its 4G service in Ha Noi. The operator has deployed 36,000 4G BTSs across Vietnam, covering 95 percent of the country's population, Viet Nam News reports, citing company officials. Viettel claims the average download speed of its 4G service is 30 to 50Mbp. Viettel plans to offer 4G-enabled smartphones for a starting price of VND 1.3 million and free 4G SIMs.

VNPT expands 4G services to Ca Mau

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) has launched its 4G Vinaphone services in Ca Mau province. Vinaphone claims to own a share of 70 percent of the mobile market in Ca Mau province with 1.1 million subscribers. VNPT now provides prepay and postpaid Vinaphone mobile phone services, internet service Fiber VNN, MyTV, data transmission service, and other IT services in Ca Mau. VNPT has also donated VND 500 million to the charity fund for social welfare of the province.

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) has expanded its free SIM upgrade campaign for customers across the country. Customers now can visit VNPT's outlets or booths nationwide to upgrade to a 4G SIM free of charge. The offer runs until 30 April.

Vietnamese operator Viettel plans to launch 4G services in the first quarter of 2017, VietnamNet reports, citing Viettel's deputy general director Hoang Son. "With 4G, prices might be lower than the current 3G prices and we will create many different and flexible packages for customers", Son also said.

MobiFone, Viettel, VNPT receive 4G spectrum licenses

The Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications has granted 4G licenses to three domestic mobile operators. MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, military-run Viettel Group and Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT) will be able to provide 4G services on the 1,800 MHz spectrum, VietNamNews reports. Around 100 million mobile subscribers of the three mobile operators are expected to soon access 4G services.
