VimpelCom takes new CEO from SFR as Lunder resigns
VimpelCom has announced the resignation of group CEO Jo Lunder from 13 April. Lunder is leaving the company for new opportunities, but will continue to serve as advisor during the transition period through to 13 July. A former Telenor executive, Lunder has been on the Vimpelcom board since 2002, became chairman at the end of 2009 and was named CEO in 2011. 

He will be succeeded by Jean-Yves Charlier, who most recently led French operator SFR. Before that, Charlier was CEO for Promethean and Cold.  He started his career with Wang in France and has held senior executive positions with Equant and BT Global Services.

Vimpelcom ex-CEO arrested in Norway over possible corruption

Vimpelcom's former CEO, Jo Lunder, had been arrested at Oslo Airport in connection with possible corruption at the Russian company, Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet said on its website. The National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Okokrim) said that as investigations are under way, it could not comment presently. Telenor to sell VimpelCom stake; Q3 impairment NOK 7.5 bln

Telenor Group said it is to divest its entire 33 percent stake in VimpelCom and fully focus on creating value in its core operations. Svein Aaser, chairman of Telenor's board of directors said its minority stake and lack of ability to fully control Vimpelcom had been challenging. Vimpelcom ex-CEO Lunder does not plan to become Telenor CEO

The Vimpelcom Group's former CEO Jo Lunder has ruled himself out as a successor to Telenor Group CEO Fredrik Baksaas, according to an online excerpt from an article in Norwegian business newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv.
