Virgin Media TV customers get direct access to Amazon Prime Video

Liberty Global has announced a multi-year agreement with Amazon to enhance the viewing experience for 4 million Virgin Media TV customers in the UK. Virgin customers will be able to access the Prime Video app directly through Virgin TV from summer 2019. 

Virgin Media will be the first of Liberty Global's subsidiaries in Europe to integrate the Amazon Prime Video app with its Ultra HD (UHD) V6 set-top box. The deal with Amazon is part of Liberty Global's strategy to combine OTT online video apps and services from major streaming partners with its own content and TV functionality. It already offers access to Netflix on its platform.

The ad-supported VoD platform Tubi entered a content partnership deal with MGM Television to become the exclusive home for all 15 seasons of 'The Apprentice' franchise. Starting from 6 May, Tubi customers can access all seasons of The Apprentice franchise completely free. Tubi said it continues to expand its content library which presently contains more than 12,000 movies and television series. It expects to grow it at an even greater accelerated pace throughout the year.
