Vodafone confirms UK 4G network launch for 29 August
Vodafone has confirmed the launch of its UK 4G mobile network in London on 29 August. After London, the network will launched in Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield by end-2013. Vodafone Red 4G-ready plans (24 month) will be available to consumers from 12 August. They will come in three options - Vodafone Red 4G, Red 4G L and Red 4G XL, costing from GBP 26 a month for a SIM-only deal. Plans will cost from GBP 34 a month with a 4G-ready handset included. Existing Vodafone Red customers with a 4G-ready device can upgraded to 4G for an GBP 5 per month. Customers signing up to a Red 4G can choose from Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV included with their plan.
 
For business customers, Vodafone Red Business 4G-ready and 12-month SIM only plans will offer double the amount of UK data available on standard Vodafone Red Business plans - that is 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB - with customers able to share this data across devices using the free data SIM. Business plans start from GBP 21.67 per month for a SIM-only deal without handset, and customers can add One Net Express for GBP 10 per month. Tablet users with their own 4G-ready device who want to use Vodafone Ultrafast 4G can get online from GBP 16.67 (ex-VAT) with 4 GB of data. Vodafone also offers the Sony Xperia Tablet Z for an upfront cost of GBP 82.50 at GBP 30.83 (ex-VAT) per month with 4 GB of data. Vodafone also offers business users a 4G dongle (the Vodafone K5006) for no up-front cost on a 24 month plan with 4GB of data for GBP 16.67 (ex-VAT) per month. All business customers on Vodafone Red Business 4G-ready will benefit from Vodafone 5 Star Care.
