Vodafone Germany launches new GigaKombi portfolio

Vodafone Germany is stepping up competition with Deutsche Telekom on the market for fixed-mobile packages, changing its Red One portfolio into the new GigaKombi offer from 22 August. The bundles will offer broadband at up to 400 Mbps and LTE Max at up to 375 Mbps on all Red mobile tariffs. Matching Telekom's latest offer for home broadband, Vodafone offers GigaKombi for EUR 19.99 per month in the first year under a launch promotion.

Subscribers can get up to five Vodafone Basic SIM cards with GigaKombi. They all include unlimited calls. Data bundles or Red tariffs can be added. Customers with a Red tariff can get additional Red+ SIM cards to share the data allowance of the main SIM. Vodafone TV is also included free during the first subscription year when ordered by 8 October. 

The complete GigaKombi bundle including the fixed line offering Internet & Phone Kabel 400 V, Vodafone TV and the mobile tariff Vodafone Basic costs EUR 19.99 per month during the first year, then EUR 48.98. Without the TV option, the monthly fee is EUR 44.99 from the second year. Red subscribers also get a monthly EUR 10 discount, and the Red S tariff costs an additional EUR 19.99 instead of EUR 29.99.

Vodafone Germany announced new international calls options and routers for its fixed customers. Four international plans will be available from 09 October, costing from EUR 4.99 to EUR 19.99 per month. For EUR 14.99, calls are unlimited to fixed lines in 60 countries and mobile lines in Turkey, Poland and Russia, the most popular destinations from Germany. Vodafone Germany has teamed with Connect magazine to support technology start-ups. Start-ups who have already launched their product or service, or plan to do so in 2017, can now apply for the Breakthrough 2017 Award. A shortlist of applicants will be decided through user voting, with a panel of judges then selecting the top three start-ups. Vodafone Germany rolls out Crystal Clear technology

Vodafone Germany has announced the roll out of Vodafone Crystal Clear technology across its LTE mobile network to improve voice quality. The first smartphones supporting this new technology will launch in the coming weeks. The technology is based on so-called Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) Codecs, which expand the voice service to the entire frequency range heard by humans of 20 kHz, instead of 7 kHz. Free firmware updates will be made available to customers with supporting smartphones.

Deutsche Telekom offers 50% discount on SmartHome products

Deutsche Telekom is running a promotion on its SmartHome product line. Until 28 August, users can choose between the introductory alarm system or the starter bundle for a monthly fee of EUR 4.95 instead of EUR 9.95, teltarif.de reports. The introductory alarm system includes the base station HomeBase as well as two door and window contacts. Deutsche Telekom charges a one-off price of EUR 10.

Vodafone claims German mobile lead by share, sales growth

Vodafone Deutschland said it is the only German mobile company to have increased its market share, citing figures released by the country's operators during the reporting season just ended. Vodafone Germany said it expanded its market share by 0.2 percentage points by 30 June, whereas Telefonica Germany lost 0.2 percentage points, and Deutsche Telekom's mobile market share was unchanged.

Vodafone Germany has launched its fastest mobile base station in Langenhagen near Hannover, reaching up to 375 Mbps. All Vodafone customers on Red tariffs with a suitable smartphone can now benefit from the high speeds. The operator plans to offer speeds of up to 525 Mbps for mobile connections from the autumn.

Vodafone Germany has announced that it will offer services at up to 400 Mbps (downloads) and 25 Mbps (uploads) from mid-June to almost 4 million households across the country.
