
Vodafone NL to launch triple-play deal on fibre network

Vodafone Netherlands plans to offer television services from Reggefiber's and KPN's fiber network, Het Financieele Dagblad reported. The television offering will be launched in be launched in nine municipalities where Reggefiber is looking to still roll out fibre. The offering will then become available in all homes served by fibre. From 2012, the services will be available for DSL customers. The package, named Vodafone Home Internet, Phone & TV, is available with three internet speeds: 30, 50 and 100 Mbps, opriced at EUR 49.95, EUR 59.95, and EUR 74.95 respectively. The basic package has more than sixty television channels, including twenty in full HD quality. There will also be interactive services such as catch-up TV and video on demand. Consumers will also get analogue TV, so that they are able to watch TV on all the TV sets in the house. Vodafone NL will offer its services first in Barneveld, Beuningen, Emmer-Compascuum, Groesbeek, Groot Salland, Leudal, Millingen aan de Rijn, Nuth and Zevenaar. Vodafone Home Internet, Phone & TV will actually become available in those municipalities where at least thirty percent of households registered for services at some provider. Once a municipality reached that percentage, Reggefiber starts construction of the fiber network. The new Vodafone services will be available in mid-October, in those municipalities already served with fibre. The operator decided to offer fixed services, noting that boundaries between mobile and fixed networks are starting to fade. Vodafone NL said it does not want to invest much into marketing. Still, existing mobile customers will be contacted via direct telephony marketing to see if they want to switch.
