Vodafone signs up over 100,000 4G-ready customers
Vodafone UK will switch on 4G in Liverpool on 17 October, in Glasgow on 24 October and in Manchester shortly afterwards. This follows the launch of 4G services initially in London, and then in Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield in September. Vodafone aims to cover 97 percent of the UK population with its 4G network by 2015. 

The company also confirmed that more than 100,000 customers have signed up for Red 4G-ready plans. Since launching 4G services in London, Vodafone has been expanding coverage across the city - with more than 80 towns and districts in the London area now connected to Vodafone 4G.

Vodafone UK is expanding its 4G network to Scotland, with 4G services now available in Glasgow and launching in Edinburgh on 21 November. Vodafone UK has launched a trade-in offer for the iPhone 5c. Customers can trade in their old touchscreen phone, event if it was purchased from another network, and get the iPhone 5c 16 GB with no upfront cost on the 24-month Red 4G-ready plan at GBP 42 per month. O2, Vodafone switch on UK 4G networks in more cities

Mobile operators O2 and Vodafone have switched on their UK 4G networks in more cities, reports The Telegraph. O2 has activated 4G services in Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield. The O2 4G network is now available to 9.5 million people in eight cities, with five more cities to be added by end-2013. Vodafone UK has also switched on its 4G network in the same five cities, and will also offer 4G services in Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester by end-October.

Vodafone UK is now selling the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone. It is being offered in black or white with no upfront costs on GBP 47, 24 month Red 4G-ready plans. EE has switched on 4G in 12 more towns across the UK, with the service now available to homes and businesses in a total of 117 towns and cities.
