Vodafone UK offers free Netflix with 4G plans
Vodafone UK announced an exclusive mobile promotional partnership with Netflix to give Vodafone Red 4G customers access to a wide range of movies and TV box sets for a period on six months. The promotional offer of six months Netflix with Vodafone Red 4G price plans will be available in-store, online and by phone from July. The offer will be available with Vodafone Red 4G plans priced over GBP 26.

Vodafone UK to sell Chromecast in shops

Vodafone UK announced that it will start selling Google's Chromecast media streaming device in its shops. Vodafone Red customers will be able to buy the device at the discounted price of GBP 25, while other customers pay GBP 30. This follows earlier media offers from the mobile operator for discounted or free access to Netflix, Spotify or Sky Sports Mobile. Chromecast plugs into the HDMI port of a TV and allows users to 'cast' content from their smartphone, tablet or computer to the TV screen.

Vodafone UK kicks off Netflix promotional offer

From 01 July, Vodafone UK's Red 4G customers can get six months of Netflix pre-paid. The promotional offer is available in-store, online and by phone until 31 December. The Netflix partnership builds on Vodafone UK's existing Spotify and Sky Sports mobile TV offers for 4G customers. Vodafone UK extends EuroTraveller to PAYG users

Vodafone UK will extend the EuroTraveller service to PAYG customers from 21 July. This will allow to use their UK minutes and texts, plus 100 MB data a day, in the Europe Zone. This will be available for GBP 2 a day until 31 August, after which the price will revert to the standard GBP 3 a day.

Vodafone UK brings 4G services to Belfast

Vodafone UK plans to start rolling out 4G services to Belfast in summer 2014. In the last few months, Vodafone has expanded its ultrafast 4G coverage to 239 larger cities, towns and districts as well as thousands of smaller communities across the UK. The company also announced plans to add to its 12 stores in Northern Ireland by a new store in Enniskillen by end-June.

Vodafone UK introduces eco ratings for smartphones, tablets

Vodafone UK has introduced store-wide eco-ratings for smartphones and tablets on sale at vodafone.co.uk. The eco-rating badge will tell customers how environmentally friendly and how sustainable each device is. Vodafone has collated information about how each phone is designed, manufactured and shipped, and assigned each one a score between 0-5, with 5 being the most environmentally friendly.

Vodafone UK has launched the new Vodafone Smart Tab 4 device, with 8-in display and quad-core processor. It is available for GBP 125 on PAYG and from GBP 20 a month, with a GBP 20 upfront cost, on a pay-monthly plan with 2 GB data.

Vodafone deploys Open Sure Signal units in Wiltshire village

Vodafone UK confirmed that Middle Winterslow in Wiltshire is the latest community selected to their own 'community-led network'. Working with the community and local MP John Glen, Vodafone UK has installed four Open Sure Signal units throughout the village, which use femto cell technology to provide a Vodafone 3G signal to areas which traditional mobile coverage has been unable to reach.

Vodafone UK announces new smartphone offers

Vodafone UK has announced a series of smartphone offers, available until 30 June. It is offering the Vodafone Smart 4 mini for GBP 45 on PAYG; the Nokia Lumia 520 for GBP 65 on PAYG; and the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini for GBP 120 on PAYG or free from GBP 13 a month on pay monthly plans.

UK motorways, roads, railways have patchy mobile coverage

The average user on a UK motorway has 3G/4G coverage 76 percent of the time, 67 percent of the time on A-roads and 72 percent of the time on UK railways, according to a new report from OpenSignal. On motorways, the best performing network is 3 UK, which serve their subscribers with 3G/4G coverage 92 percent of the time. At the other end of the spectrum, Vodafone and O2 are close - with their users experiencing 65 percent and 67 percent of the time on 3G/4G respectively.

Vodafone UK adds 124,000 mobile customers in Q4

Vodafone UK generated revenue of GBP 6.43 billion for the year to 31 March, with service revenue down 4.4 percent to GBP 3.23 billion, driven mainly by declines in enterprise and prepaid and a 1.9 percentage point impact from MTR cuts, partially offset by consumer contract service revenue growth. EBITDA was down 9.8 percent to GBP 1.42 billion, with adjusted operating profit down to GBP 187 million, from GBP 303 million. The number of customers on Vodafone Red plans reached almost 2.7 million at end-March.

Mobile technology strengthens family bonds - research

More than 70 percent of UK parents believe mobile technology is strengthening their bond with their children, according to new research conducted by Vodafone UK to mark the launch of its updated free Digital Parenting Guide. The study questioned 1,500 parents and 500 children. Anti-austerity direct action group UK Uncut has announced a 'national day of action' against Vodafone in protest against their alleged 'tax dodging' activities. The campaign group claims that Vodafone 'hasn't paid a penny of corporation tax since 2011'. The protests are planned to take place on 14 June and will focus on how tax dodging is crippling the UK's social housing sector.

Vodafone 4G available to 233 large UK towns and cities

Vodafone UK will activate 4G in Swindon on 22 May as it works to bring its 4G network to 98 percent of the UK population by end-2015. It has recently started to roll out the 4G network in places like York, Slough and Epping, as well as boosting coverage in the areas around Glasgow and Edinburgh. Overall, Vodafone is live or starting to roll out 4G in 233 large towns and cities across the UK.
