West European consumer broadband prices drop 3.1%
The Western European broadband prices for residential users have continued to decrease during the first two quarters of 2007, according to Telecompaper's quarterly Western European Broadband Pricing updates. The market average decrease was 3.1 percent to EUR 32.79 with Switzerland, Belgium and Denmark leading the way with more than 10 percent decreases. Swiss consumers even saw the average monthly broadband fee drop by 21.9 percent compared with the end of 2006 to CHF 55.40 (EUR 36.40). Ireland, however, saw average broadband prices go up by 35.5 percent due to price increases and smaller portfolios, and the broadband fees in the UK increased by 7.9 percent.
