Encryption is expected to help protect messages from the growing number of security threats and potential data breaches. WhatsApp said it expects end-to-end encryption ultimately will represent the future of all personal communication.
WhatsApp starts full encryption
WhatsApp announced it's started full end-to-end encryption across its messaging app. Every call, message, photo, video, file and voice message sent over the app is encrypted by default, including group chats. WhatsApp said the encryption will ensure communication is private: "No one can see inside that message. Not cybercriminals. Not hackers. Not oppressive regimes. Not even us," the company's founders said in a blog posting.
