Wi-Lan files patent suit against Apple, Alcatel, others
Wi-Lan has launched a lawsuit against Apple, Alcatel-Lucent, Dell, HP, HTC, Kyocera, Novatel Wireless and Sierra Wireless alleging they infringe its patents. The lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas concerns Wi-Lan's US patent number RE37,802 related to CDMA and HSPA and number 5,282,222 related to Wi-Fi and LTE. McKool Smith is representing the company. The law firm specializes in intellectual property litigation and has successfully defended the patent rights of many companies throughout the US and has particular expertise in the Eastern District of Texas.

Openwave files patent complaints against RIM, Apple

Openwave Systems has filed patent-infringement complaints against Apple and Research In Motion. Apple wins injunction against Samsung smartphones

Apple has won a preliminary injunction from a court in The Hague blocking the distribution of Samsung smartphones in the Netherlands and Europe. Wi-Lan bids CAD 480 mln for Mosaid

Licensing company Wi-Lan has made an unsolicited bid of CAD 480 million for rival Mosaid Technologies. The company is offering CAD 38 cash per share for Mosaid, representing a premium of 31.1 percent on the last share price, excluding Mosaid's cash. WiLan revenues grow 137%, moves to net profit in Q2

Licensing company WiLan's second-quarter revenues grew 137 percent to USD 27.4 million from USD 11.6 million in the year-earlier quarter. The top ten licensees accounted for 79 percent of royalty revenues, down from 93 percent of revenues in the same period last year. Google accuses rivals of patent battle against Android

Google has accused rivals of waging a "hostile, organized campaign" against its mobile operating system Andoid, using "bogus patents". HTC found to infringe on 2 Apple patents

HTC announced it has received notice of the ITC judge's initial determination in the Apple vs. HTC case. Apple originally asserted ten of its patents against HTC in March 2010, and the US-based ITC has now ruled that HTC infringed on two patents.
