Wind Tre, ZTE complete 5G-ready network project

Italian operator Wind Tre and partner ZTE have announced the completion of a project to roll out a 5G-ready network throughout Italy. The Chinese vendor has installed some 20,000 '5G-ready' transmission sites in over 100 provinces all over the country under the so-called ‘Super Rete’ project, allowing customers with compatible phones to reach speeds of up to 1Gbps thanks to carrier aggregation and 4x4 Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) technologies. 

Wind Tre last year pledged to continue working with ZTE on its network upgrade after the US Commerce Department lifted its trade ban on the Chinese multinational in July 2018, even after signing a new vendor agreement with Ericsson. The Italian subsidiary of ZTE opened a 5G Innovation and Research Centre in the central Italian city of L'Aquila in February 2018, part of a commitment to invest EUR 500 million in the country by 2023.

Wind Tre poised to launch low-cost brand Very Mobile - report

Italian operator Wind Tre (CK Hutchison) is about to launch its MVNO brand to compete with low-cost rivals such as TIM's Kena Mobile, Vodafone's Ho Mobile and new entrant Iliad Italia, reports Corriere delle Comunicazioni. ZTE releases Wi-Fi 6 home gateway with VDSL2 35b support

ZTE launched the ZXHN H6606, what it calls the industry's first fibre/copper dual-mode home gateway that passed Wi-Fi certification and supports the EasyMesh specification. The product can connect with VDSL2 35b, GPON and Gigabit Ethernet networks to deliver gigabit broadband access in multiple scenarios. It also supports the Wi-Fi 6 and mesh Wi-Fi technologies to provide home users with a gigabit broadband experience throughout the home.

Wind Tre planning to cut 1,500 jobs over 3 years - report

Italian operator Wind Tre could reduce its workforce by over 20 percent over the next 3 years, according to a union official cited in a Reuters report. In a meeting held last week with trade unions, Wind Tre executives informed representatives that the company foresees up to 1,500 redundancies out of a workforce of around 7,000, said Riccardo Saccone of the SLC-CGIL union.

The 3 Italia brand of operator Wind Tre has relaunched its Play 50 Plus plan at a monthly price of EUR 7.99 and no activation fee, reports Mondo Mobile Web. Wind offering new 100GB data bundle for EUR 10

The Wind brand of Italian operator Wind Tre has relaunched a summer offer allowing customers to acquire a 100GB bundle of 4.5G data at a one-off cost of EUR 9.99. The 'Summer 100 Giga' promo has been renamed 'Wind 100 Giga Max' and it comes with 100GB of data to be used within 2 months of activation, including 3.7GB for EU roaming.
