Xiaomi will launch a separate mobile phone brand called 'Poco', to focus on the premium segment of the global Android handset market. The first device under the new brand will be unveiled on 22 August in India, South China Morning Post reports, citing social media posts by Jai Mani, Xiaomi's head of product for Poco.
"Recently it feels like the pace of innovation in the smartphone industry has slowed down, while prices are creeping up with flagship smartphones now past the USD 1,000 mark," Mani said. "We set out to build something to buck the trend," he added.
