Yahoo! appoints Google's Mayer as CEO
Yahoo! has appointed Marissa Mayer as its president and CEO and member of the board of directors, effective immediately. Most recently, Mayer was responsible for Local, Maps, and Location Services for Google, the company's suite of local and geographical products including Google Maps, Google Earth, Zagat, Street View, and local search, for desktop and mobile. Mayer joined Google in 1999 as its 20th employee and led efforts for many of Google's most recognizable products, including the development of its flagship search product and homepage for over 10 years. Mayer starts work immediately, replacing interim CEO Ross Levinsohn.

Levinsohn leaves Yahoo!

Ross Levinsohn, interim CEO at Yahoo! until the recent appointment of Marissa Mayer, is leaving the company. Yahoo confirmed his departure in a regulatory filing. Levinsohn took over as CEO after the resignation of Scott Thompson earlier this year. He previously worked as head of the Americas unit at Yahoo.

Yahoo! reported second-quarter revenue down 1 percent from a year earlier to USD 1.218 billion, while net profit was stable at USD 0.18 per share. Yahoo! considers Hulu chief as CEO candidate - report

Yahoo! has whittled down the search for a new CEO to two candidates, reports Reuters. According to two unnamed sources with knowledge of the process, the decision is now between interim CEO Ross Levinsohn and Hulu CEO Jason Kilar. The Yahoo! board had also wanted to talk to Johnathan Miller, currently Chief Digital Officer at News Corp, but he declined to pursue talks. One of the sources said that Levinsohn was still favourite to take the role on a permanent basis.

Yahoo! has appointed Michael Barrett as executive vice president and chief revenue officer. Yahoo! reported first-quarter revenues of USD 1.221 billion, up 1 percent from a year earlier.
