Yota Devices to switch production to China

Russian company Yota Devices has decided to transfer its production to China, reports Vedomosti. The decision was taken due to problems with its Singapore-based producer Hi-P, CEO Vladislav Martynov said. According to Vedemosti's source, Yota Devices is negotiating a cooperation with ZTE, and a letter of intent is planned to be signed soon. The next smartphone from Yota Devices, expected to launch in Q1 2016, would be made at a plant owned by ZTE in China. The change will enable Yota Devices to cut production costs of the device by over 30 percent, the report said.
