CEVA Logistics accelerates Device-as-a-Service for telecom manufacturers and operators

During Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, CEVA Logistics will present itself on the Dutch Pavilion as a logistics partner for Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) within the telecom sector. With this service, CEVA supports telecom operators and mobile phone manufacturers in the transition from traditional device sales to a fully service-driven model.

From device sales to services: what is DaaS?

Device-as-a-Service is transforming the way organisations deploy smartphones. Instead of purchasing devices, business customers subscribe to phones as a service, paying a fixed monthly fee per device. This fee includes all services, such as delivery, configuration, management, repair, replacement and circular end-of-life processing at the end of the contract period.

For telecom operators and mobile phone manufacturers, this model enables long-term customer relationships, recurring revenue streams and full control over the entire device lifecycle.

How does DaaS work in practice?

CEVA Logistics supports the complete lifecycle management of smartphones through a data-driven and scalable logistics model:

Planning and procurement
Support with sustainable sourcing, supplier selection, portfolio management and inventory forecasting. Supplier invoicing is centrally organised.
Financing and billing
Options for leasing or purchase models (OPEX or CAPEX), including inventory financing, customer billing and collections.
Storage and delivery
Fulfilment, inventory and asset management, configuration and kitting, labelling and delivery to the end user, including time-slot delivery and returns logistics.
In-life replacement and repair
Fast swap procedures in case of damage or defects, certified repairs, data wiping and support for employee onboarding and offboarding.
End of contract and second life
Collection of used devices, grading, secure data erasure and resale through second-life channels or recycling. As a result, approximately 99% of devices are given a second life or responsibly recycled.

Who is this solution for?

CEVA’s DaaS solutions are primarily aimed at telecom operators and mobile phone manufacturers serving business customers. With DaaS, they can expand their offerings with fully managed smartphone services, without having to set up complex logistics processes themselves.

Tangible benefits for telecom companies

  • Lower total costs thanks to a transparent pricing model and the choice between OPEX and CAPEX
  • Faster lead times from order to delivery and replacement
  • Reduced complexity by working with a single orchestration partner for the entire device chain
  • Improved end-user experience through flawless delivery, fast swaps and clear reporting
  • Greater circularity through maximum reuse and controlled recycling of smartphones
  • CEVA’s added value in DaaS

CEVA Logistics combines operational logistics with orchestration and technology:

  • Consulting and supply chain design to set up and optimise DaaS models
  • A control tower with end-to-end visibility of inventory, shipments and assets
  • IT platforms for asset management, warehouse management, billing and reporting
  • Web portals for both organisations and end users
  • Fast system integration via API and EDI
  • Proven scale, with more than 225,000 smartphones under management within mature DaaS programmes

Practical examples

Telecom subscriptions with smartphones: in case of damage, users receive a replacement device immediately; at the end of the contract, the phone is collected and redeployed.
Corporate rollouts for employees: pre-configured smartphones upon onboarding, with automated return and data wiping when employees leave the organisation.
Large-scale upgrade campaigns: coordinated swap programmes with time-slot delivery, ensuring optimal customer satisfaction and inventory management.

Why DaaS — and why now?

Smartphone innovation cycles are becoming increasingly short, while customers expect service, flexibility and sustainability. At the same time, telecom companies are looking for models that keep costs under control while preserving value. DaaS provides a concrete answer to these challenges — and requires a logistics partner that brings together orchestration, scale and data.
