Viasat launches dedicated satellite capacity for telcos and MNOs in EMEA

Viasat launches new dedicated capacity solutions across Europe and select Mediterranean and Gulf countries, addressing the increasing demand for satellite capacity of Telcos, MNOs and integrators in these regions. These include Dedicated Beams for dedicated, uncontended capacity, and MBEAT for aggregated throughput, leveraging their KA-SAT satellite for reliable and cost-effective bandwidth solutions.

Viasat, headquartered in California and through its European Fixed Broadband Commercial operation (EBI), is rolling out advanced Bandwidth Solutions across Europe and selected regions in the Middle East and North Africa. The company aims to deliver top-tier satellite broadband services, emphasizing innovation to cater to the evolving requirements of its Telco and enterprise clientele. In particular, Viasat is expanding its offerings in B2B and enterprise connectivity with its new Bandwidth Solutions lineup.

This suite introduces a range of models tailored to meet specific industry needs. It includes a newly designed dedicated capacity bandwidth product called Dedicated Beam, targeting applications like mobile backhaul or failover for telecommunications. Additionally, in response to market demand, Viasat is reintroducing its aggregated throughput solution, MBEAT (Multi-Beam Best Effort Aggregated Throughput). These solutions leverage Viasat's KA-SAT satellite technology and infrastructure, alongside a Secure Core Network, to address the increasing demand for reliable and cost-effective bandwidth across the satellite’s footprint.

The Bandwidth Solutions suite offers flexibility by allowing customers to combine dedicated and shared capacity products, ensuring a customized and secure service. These solutions are particularly geared towards mobile backhaul and telecom capacity management, offering rapid deployment with a much lower CAPEX and OPEX effort compared to terrestrial infrastructure.

Javier Biosca, Viasat's Business Development Director for KA-SAT, notes, “We are excited to introduce innovative enhancements to our portfolio in response to customer expectations, following recent network upgrades."

MBEAT

Aimed at telcos MNOs and integrators, this model provides distributors with the flexibility to manage subscribers effectively, in areas such as bid management, while maintaining predictable costs. Viasat's Aggregated Capacity service model enables distributors to manage subscribers flexibly across multiple beams and countries, complemented by Traffic Delivery to international Points of Presence (PoPs).

Dedicated Beam

With Dedicated Beam, Distributors benefit from dedicated, uncontested capacity over either individual or multiple selected beams to offer premium solutions to their customers. Offering dedicated and uncontested capacity over either individual or multiple selected beams, Viasat’s Dedicated Beam solution is ideal for critical applications such as energy plants, mobile backhaul for data offload in high value sites, and failover for critical infrastructure.

With this pioneering approach in the satellite industry, Viasat is well-positioned to meet the escalating demand for satellite capacity reliably and cost-effectively, with a model that their terrestrial counterpart is already familiar with.

Viasat’s Bandwidth Solutions complement their existing B2B package portfolio, available across the company’s KA-SAT satellite footprint, covering the European continent, the Mediterranean basin, and select Gulf countries.

Strong innovation focus

Viasat recently opened its new international business headquarters in London, which will prioritize technology innovation to support its UK and global customers across maritime, aviation and government. The office is also the home to Viasat’s UK Network Operations Center and Satellite Control Center, which will provide satellite, network, and cybersecurity capabilities and solutions to customers around the world.
