PLDT data centre unit Vitro files for PHP 24 billion REIT IPO

PLDT has announced that its data centre subsidiary Vitro, has submitted a registration statement and Real Estate Investment Trust plan to the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, alongside a listing application on the Main Board of the Philippine Stock Exchange. The initial public offering consists of a secondary offering sponsored by ePLDT, comprising up to 1.9 billion secondary common shares with an over-allotment option of up to 286,956,500 additional shares, priced at up to PHP 11 per share.

Vodafone Ukraine announced it has installed solar panels at 100 of its base stations in 14 regions. Solar energy is expected to cover almost 30 percent of the power needs. Nexera revenues up 26% in 2025

Revenues of Polish company Nexera Holding totaled PLN 152.0 million in 2025, up by 26.0 percent year-on-year, reports Telko.in citing a statement submitted by the company to the National Court Register (KRS). EBITDA improved to PLN 28.3 million from PLN 17.4 million, and the net loss dropped from PLN 206,000 in 2024 to PLN 155,200 in 2025. The number of active RGUs reached almost 300,000 on the Nexera network, and the fibre-optic network covered almost 800,000 households in nine regions.

MTS Belarus expands LTE network with beCloud

MTS Belarus launched more than 70 new LTE base stations in May, using the infrastructure of state-owned operator beCloud. The coverage and capacity of the network increased in almost 50 sites across the country. The Canadian federal government has announced funding of more than CAD 96.8 million for a Valley Fiber-led project to connect more than 7,800 homes across Manitoba to high-speed broadband. The project will connect up to 7,875 homes in more than 50 rural/remote communities, with the funding delivered through the Universal Broadband Fund.

Vodafone Ireland survey highlights nostalgic mobile phone memories

New research from Vodafone Ireland shows that staying connected with family and friends (66%), accessing social media (54%) and banking, budgeting and managing finances (32%) are the top three reasons for using a mobile phone. This is based on a survey of 500 mobile phone users in Ireland aged 40+, as Vodafone marks 25 years of operating in the country. By comparison, voice calls were the main use of mobile phones in 2001, with SMS/text messaging emerging as a key feature.

Czech operators have installed their 5G equipment in the infrastructure deployed by the Czech national railway carrier in train tunnels on the corridor from Prague to Brno and Ostrava. The operators will provide data and voice services in the tunnels on their own, using the shared infrastructure.

Telefonica Germany signs multi-year agreement with Tech Mahindra to build private cloud platform

Telefonica Germany has signed a multi-year agreement with Tech Mahindra to build a private cloud platform. Under the contract Tech Mahindra will provide its end-to-end platform engineering and AI-backed operations to transform the infrastructure of Telefonica Germany. The private cloud platform will support the infrastructure and transformation of Telefonica Germany through compute, storage, backup, containers, GPUs and ransomware protection as a service.

NCC looks at options for free internet access for students

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has opened a three-week public consultation on a framework that would allow Nigerian students to access approved educational platforms without incurring data charges, The Punch reported. The NCC seeks public input on a framework for providing free access to educational resources and digital skills development platforms. The project is aimed at addressing digital exclusion among students who are unable to afford internet access for learning purposes.

Rostelecom deploys telecom infrastructure for Russia-ASEAN summit

Russian national operator Rostelecom said it deployed the digital infrastructure for the Russia-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit in Kazan. The event took place 17 to 19 June. The operator provided protected links at the main locations of the event, as well as Kazan International Airport and nine hotels.

Google, Energy Dome announce energy storage project in Ireland

Google has signed a bilateral commercial contract with Today Energy Dome, long-term energy storage technology provider, for a 23 MW/200 MWh CO2 battery project in Ireland's County Offaly. This is part of their long-term partnership announced in 2025 for the large-scale deployment of Energy Dome's CO2 battery technology, supporting Google's commitment to boosting access to affordable, clean energy for grids worldwide. They have recently announced a 19 MW/200 MWh project in Arizona with local utility SRP.

Rostelecom subsidiary Bulat launches new line of base stations

Russian national operator Rostelecom said that its subsidiary Bulat launched the first units of mobile base stations compatible with the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz and 2,600 MHz bands. The capacity of the signal processing unit also was improved on the new lines of base stations, as well as new functions added for flexible deployment by operators. Base stations from Bulat are used on LTE and GSM networks.

Kazakhstan and Belgium have signed a number of strategic agreements aimed at advancing artificial intelligence, science, digital infrastructure, and space technologies. As reported by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the documents were signed during the visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Belgium.
