UK broadcaster Channel 4 has awarded TV ad airtime to five more sustainable businesses as part of a B Corp competition run by Channel 4 Sales in partnership with B Lab UK. The five winners will share TV ad airtime worth GBP 600,000, starting with a special primetime linear ad-break takeover later in 2026. Potraz provides Starlink connectivity to 98 digital centres, supplies solar power and school PCs

The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has upgraded 98 digital centres with Starlink technology nationwide, including ten centres in Masvingo province. It said 59 digital centres and post offices have been solarised to improve service reliability and operational sustainability. UK regulator Ofcom has announced new safety measures for online platforms to respond to spikes in illegal content during a crisis. The new measures require online platforms to have protocols in place to respond quickly and effectively during a crisis to manage increases in illegal content on their sites, and address the risk of their platforms being used to commit/support criminal offences.

Libya has launched its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2026-2030, according to government-backed media platform Hakomitna. Key targets include enabling 80 percent of government organisations to use AI services, automating 50 percent of government transactions, activating national digital identity for 70 percent of the population, training 10,000 employees in advanced technologies, supporting the establishment of 100 AI-focused start-ups and digitising 70 percent of paper-based records.

Burundi telecom watchdog ARCT tells mobile users to register SIMs by 25 June

Burundi's Telecommunications Regulation and Control Agency (ARCT) has directed mobile users to update their SIM registrations by 25 June or face deactivation, Ecofin reported. The regulator warned that non-compliant lines will be cut off. The measure targets subscribers with irregular identification data, such as illegible or damaged national ID cards. This follows a 13 January ministerial order governing SIM card registration and use that aims to strengthen security and prevent consumer fraud.

Eurofiber revenue rises 13% to EUR 349 million in 2025

Eurofiber posted full-year 2025 revenue of EUR 349 million, a 13 percent increase compared with EUR 308 million in 2024, with growth recorded in every market. Adjusted EBITDA from core activities reached EUR 184 million, also up 13 percent from EUR 163 million the prior year. Capital expenditure exceeded EUR 200 million, directed at expanding the group's fibre-optic infrastructure. Operational cash flows remained strongly positive throughout the year.

Telenor said it has agreed to acquire Enivest, a fibre operator in Western Norway, in a transaction valued at NOK 2.5 billion. Community Fibre, Hyperoptic backers seeking buyers - report

Private equity companies KKR and Warburg Pincus are examining potential sales of their UK fibre broadband businesses, reports the Financial Times. According to unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Warburg has appointed bankers and made approaches to potential buyers for London-based altnet Community Fibre, which has around 450,000 customers. Some of the sources also said KKR has approached potential suitors for Hyperoptic, which has over 400,000 customers.

Chilean operator Wom has begun testing 5G Advanced technology in Chile by deploying 1024 QAM, a modulation technique designed to increase data transmission capacity and improve network performance.
