Orange faces formal complaint over fibre roll-out in Mayotte

Elected representatives of Mayotte have voted to submit a complaint against Orange to the competition authority in relation to the ongoing dispute over the operator's FTTH deployment activities in densely populated areas of the island. UK network provider Commsworld announced the appointment of Melony Buchanan to the new role of Chief Revenue Officer. Italian regional fixed-network operator Intred said it has partnered with Vaultica Data Centers to provide dark fibre connectivity for the new MIL03 data centre under construction in Settimo Milanese. The agreement includes a dedicated fibre optic link between Milan's MIX internet exchange hub and the facility, aimed at delivering high-performance, secure and scalable network infrastructure.

Consumers union questions KPN, Ziggo price hikes

The Dutch consumers union says it's investigating recent price changes at the leading telecom providers KPN and Ziggo to see if they are legal. This follows dozens of complaints received from consumers about the higher prices. The Consumentenbond said it plans to meet with the operators to discuss the changes, which include a new security fee added by KPN and additional sports channels charged by Ziggo.

Salt revenues increase 6% in Q1

Swiss operator Salt has recorded a 5.8 percent year-on-year increase in revenues in the first quarter to CHF 260.2 million, driven by subscriber growth and price rises implemented in March 2025. EBITDAaL was also higher than a year earlier, climbing by 13.2 percent to CHF 135.9 million. Salt boosted its investments to CHF 87.1 million in the first quarter of this year from CHF 62.2 million in the same period last year. Operating Free Cash Flow fell to CHF 48.7 million from CHF 57.7 million  in Q1 las year.

TDF expands Aix-Marseille data centre

French infrastructure operator TDF has announced the completion of an extension project at one of its four regional colocation data centres. Serving the Aix‑Marseille metropolitan area, the site can now offer an additional 300 square metres of usable space, bringing the overall surface to nearly 1,000 square metres. The operator said that additional IT rooms are already planned to meet demand from businesses and local authorities, noting that this follow‑up extension project is scheduled for next year.

Icasa publishes final regulations for unlicensed use of lower 6 GHz band

South African communications regulator ICASA, has gazetted the final regulations for the "innovation spectrum," TechCentral reported. The new rules designate the lower 6 GHz band (5,925 to 6,425 GHz) as being licence-exempt. Instead of being auctioned to mobile network operators, this band will be shared by wireless internet service providers (WISPs), Wi-Fi deployments, private networks and community operators.

Argentinian operator Personal (Telecom Argentina) announced an agreement with DirecTV to add the latter's D-Sports channels to its Flow entertainment offering ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The deal means subscribers will be able to watch all 104 matches of the upcoming tournament on dial nos. 109 and 110 as well as other international competitions such as the Copa America, Copa Sudamericana, FIFA Club World Cup, FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups and Spain's LaLiga.

Monzo confirms MVNO launch with annual discount for banking customers

UK digital bank Monzo has confirmed plans to launch a MVNO. A waiting list is open for its existing customers to sign up, with the mobile services expected to start this summer on the O2 network. Proximus is buying out its partner Eurofiber in the Unifiber joint venture building a FTTP network in the south of Belgium. Proximus will acquire the 50.01 percent stake owned by Eurofiber for EUR 75 million, giving it 100 percent ownership. The deal gives Unfiber an enterprise value of EUR 560 million.

Marvell Technology improves sales outlook for next 2 years on data centre networking demand

Marvell Technology announced a big increase in its expected sales in fiscal 2027 and 2028 alongside its Q127 figures, thanks to strong demand for its data centre networking products. The company's revenues for the three months to April rose 28 percent year-on-year to USD 2.418 billion and it forecast 35 percent growth in fiscal Q2. Marvell said growth is expected to accelerate each quarter this year and reach around 40 percent for the full year.

The infrastructure, known as Ruta Costera, spans 146 km and includes 144 fibre-optic strands.

Philippines operator Globe Telecom, via its Globe At Home GFiber Prepaid unit, has introduced GFiber Plans to deliver connectivity with speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, powered by WiFi 7 technology. Globe has also introduced the 'Choose Your Own Voucher' programme, giving subscribers up to PHP 9,000 worth of vouchers from partner brands like TP Link, Xiaomi, Samsung, Abensons, and Digital Walker, to help households build their own connected, AI powered homes.

According to Boingo, the network is designed to support remote learning, communications and personal internet use for Marines stationed at the base.

The MVNO of Italian supermarket chain Coop has launched a promotion to persuade users to sign up to the CoopVoce Turbo 200 prepay tariff it debuted earlier this year. Under the offer, anyone porting their number to the plan by 01 July will be offered the first month for free, with the usual EUR 10 activation fee also waived.
