Huawei has introduced the Nova 15 Max smartphone in South Africa at prices starting form ZAR 7,999. Customers will also receive a Huawei added-value pack worth up to ZAR 7,596, including unlimited screen damage protection and Huawei FreeBuds SE valued at ZAR 1,499 at selected retailers. Available in black, cyan and gold, the Huawei Nova 15 Max has a slim design and distinctive Star Ring camera layout.

Saudi AI company Humain has announced plans to build Level 4-ready robotaxi fleets in the Middle East. The initiative unites leading automakers, manufacturers, autonomous vehicle (AV) software partners, and ride-hailing mobility providers.  Humain will apply its AI and mobility ecosystem alongside Nvidia's Drive Hyperion platform to develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous transportation in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

London's Metropolitan Police Force has announced an agreement with Apple to protect mobile users and make stolen handsets unusable. This involves sharing of intelligence on stolen phones, helping to create an overview of how they are being moved and whether they are reused. Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the partnership was making a big difference, with the value of stolen phones collapsing if they cannot be reactivated.

Airtel Nigeria has launched the Airtel Web Data Calculator, a new tool to help customers estimate and better understand their data consumption. Namibian operator MTC has announced that it will discontinue the free SMS benefits that customers have been receiving when recharging their airtime. This change will take effect on 10 September. This follows reflects MTC's shift towards offering data-driven communication services and bundled services offerings and reflects a permanent change in consumer behaviour, as messaging increasingly migrates to internet-based platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, and email from traditional text messaging.

3GPP has confirmed working deadlines for its upcoming Release 21 criteria, expected to mark the inaugural publication of normative 6G standards. Edinburgh to ban mobile phones in all schools from August

The City of Edinburgh Council has announced a ban on mobile phones in all schools across the city from August, the start of the new school year. The council's Education, Children and Families Committee has agreed a 'bell to bell' ban on mobile phones in secondary schools, with students putting their phones into lockable pouches for the whole school day. Primary school pupils will have to put their mobile phones in cabinets. The council has approved a one-off budget of GBP 400,000 for schools to buy pouches

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and state financing institution Invest-NL have announced a combined EUR 360 million top-up to the Deep Tech Fund (DTF), bringing its total size to EUR 610 million. Belgian provider Mobile Vikings saw its revenue increase by 20.4 percent to EUR 111 million in 2025, driven by strong performance in fixed internet and mobile, according to its recently filed annual report published in Belgium's official gazette.  Operating profit fell 2.1 percent to EUR 6.8 million as customer growth pushed up costs, while net profit was down 9.2 percent to EUR 5.6 million due to higher taxes and interest payments.
