MFE to launch unified European streaming platform in 2027 - CEO

Italian broadcaster MediaForEurope (MFE) intends to launch a unified streaming platform across its European markets in a bid to scale up against global digital and advertising competitors, reports Reuters, citing CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi. He said the new platform would integrate a front-end developed in Italy with backend technology from Germany and that the rollout would start in January.

Uzbekistan is implementing nearly 100 priority artificial intelligence projects across healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, finance, industry and e-government as part of its national AI development strategy running until 2030, reports Trend citing a statement from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan. Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov highlighted the country's AI reforms during the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 05 to 06 July.

PLDT Global revenue jumps 26% in Q1 on higher hyperscaler demand

PLDT Global, the international business arm of Philippines operator PLDT, posted a 26 percent year-on-year increase in total net service revenues for the first quarter of 2026. This growth was mainly boosted by the enterprise segment, which experienced high demand from hyperscalers and global digital platforms for connectivity, international private leased circuit services, and colocation services, the company said.

Italian FTTH and FWA provider Dimensione has expanded the portfolio of its MVNO around six months after launching its first plan on the WindTre network. The operator is now offering a mobile tariff with 200GB of 5G data for EUR 9.99 a month and another with 300GB for EUR 11.99. Both come with unlimited calls to all national landlines and mobiles, 100 SMS and access to the WindTre network at maximum possible 5G download speeds of up to 2Gbps.

Philippines operator Smart Communications has completed a live demo test with technology partner Nokia. The service is designed to upgrade the outbound data roaming experience of Filipino travelers. Smart says this live test showed how roaming data traffic from Smart subscribers in Europe can be routed locally through Nokia's Core SaaS Edge service, instead of being backhauled to the Philippines.

UAE-based E& Group announced it's exiting its investment in Vodafone Group following a strategic review of its international portfolio. E& signed a binding agreement to sell its entire 16.21 percent equity stake to Vega, an acquisition vehicle owned by Xavier Niel's family group, for around GBP 4.44 billion (USD 5.96 billion). This makes Niel the largest shareholder in Vodafone, after already buying a stake in the operator in 2022.

Vivo has agreed a joint venture with Indian group Dixon Technologies to produce the Chinese smartphone maker's devices in India.
