Hungarians prefer fixed over mobile internet at home - study

Mobile internet in Hungary complements, rather than replaces, wired home internet services, according to a 2025 study by the National Media and Communications Authority (NMHH). While mobile internet use has become more widespread than fixed-line services, most households (over 70%) use both, with only 8 percent relying solely on mobile internet. Exclusive mobile internet users are more likely to be those with lower incomes or single-person households, the study found.

Tele2 Latvia revenues up 6% in Q1, EBITDA grows over 11%

Revenues of Tele2 Latvia totaled EUR 45.7 million in the first quarter, up by 5.8 percent year-on-year. EBITDAaL rose nearly twice as fast, rising 11.4 percent to EUR 21.5 million. Capital expenditure of the company amounted to EUR 4 million and increased mainly due to higher lease related investments, attributable to the sale of its tower. Net intake in the quarter was positive in mobile postpaid with 6,000 RGUs, and negative in mobile prepaid with a loss of 12,000 RGUs.

Telin HK, LMT agree direct carrier billing with Bango

Bango said that it has signed Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) agreements with two new mobile operators: Telin (Hong Kong), a subsidiary of Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), and LMT in Latvia. Both operators have selected Bango following competitive tender processes, migrating their existing DCB services from incumbent providers to the Bango platform.

Finnish caller identification service provider Fonecta said that over 50,000 users of the Fonecta Caller app provided with its Caller Pro subscription have blocked phone numbers almost 700,000 times in the past year. Research done for Fonecta by Iro in February has found that only 25 percent of Finns never block unknown numbers. Mediacom Communications has completed 12 broadband projects in Minnesota ahead of schedule, delivering high-speed connectivity to underserved and unserved communities. Finnish transport and communications regulator Traficom has reported a rise in interference affecting satellite navigation (GNSS) and mobile networks during 2026. This particularly affects aviation in southern and central Finland. Databank agrees USD 2 bln loan to speed up Texas data centre construction

DataBank announced that it has secured a USD 2.0 billion loan for construction of the first three data centres on its new campus in Red Oak, Texas. TDS Telecom acquires New Hampshire fibre broadband provider

TDS Telecom has announced an agreement to acquire fibre broadband and phone provider Granite State Communications. The deal will combine two adjacent broadband providers in New Hampshire, and is expected to close in Q3 2026. The acquisition adds over 11,000 fibre broadband premises to the TDS group. TDS Telecom has been operating in New Hampshire since 1970, owning five phone companies in the state.

Anthropic probes unauthorised access to Mythos model

Anthropic says it is investigating unauthorised access to its Mythos Artificial Intelligence model, according to French news agency AFP. America Movil said revenues at its Claro Argentina unit rose 6.9 percent year on year to ARS 907.7 billion after inflation in the first quarter of 2026, with service revenues climbing 7.6 percent to ARS 814.0 billion, attributing mainly to a growth in the mobile and fixed line customer base. Mobile service revenue increased 8.5 percent after inflation while fixed-line revenue dipped 0.5 percent due to difficulties in accessing clients in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.

Ekinops has confirmed the full-year financial guidance issued in mid-March after reporting an improving revenue trend for the first quarter.
