Titan OS adds NBCUniversal titles to European FAST portfolio

Barcelona-based Titan OS has reached an agreement with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution to launch a portfolio of free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels across key European markets. The rollout covers the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Nordics and the Netherlands, with channels to be made available on Titan OS-powered devices from Philips, AOC, Sharp and JVC, as well as selected Sony Android TVs.

New York governor Kathy Hochul will sign an executive order on 14 July suspending the construction of large data centres for up to a year, says a Wall Street Journal report, citing her office. Mobile service revenues declined in Belgium in 2025 for the first time since 2020, according to the latest statistical report from the market regulator Bipt. Mobile retail sales were down by nearly EUR 50 million to EUR 2.98 billion, impacted by the arrival of the fourth mobile network operator, Digi.

Scottish fibre altnet GoFibre Holdings reported revenue of GBP 5.0 million for the year ending 31 December 2025, more than double the GBP 2.0 million the previous year. Its operating loss reduced to GBP 12.4 million from GBP 14.1 million as network build activity reduced upon completion of its Project Gigabit contracts in Teesdale and Northumberland. Capital expenditure halved, to GBP 16.5 million from GBP 30.7 million in 2024, according to the accounts filed at Companies House.

JT Group announced the appointment of Clive Goodwin as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) is seeking public input on a proposal by telecom operator TNM to acquire assets from sister company Open Connect (OCL). CFTC executive director Lloyds Vincent Kaunda said it is inviting feedback in accordance with the Competition and Fair Trading Act. OCL operates Malawi's premier national fibre-optic network, providing wholesale fibre capacity to mobile network operators, ISPs, broadcasters and enterprise customers.

China's smartphone shipments reached 66 million units in the second quarter of 2026, which represents a decline of 4.3 percent year-on-year and the fifth straight quarter of decline, according to a report from IDC. The study found that rising memory and component costs pushed most Android vendors to increase prices, which cooled upgrade demand. Huawei and Apple were the exceptions, growing close to 20 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

Icelandic operator Nova has updated its guidance for the 2026 financial year following its June acquisition of corporate equipment and services provider Ofar. It now forecasts FY revenue in the range of ISK 19.00 billion to ISK 19.40 billion, representing a rise of 44 percent to 47 percent from FY 2025, compared with Nova's previous revenue outlook of ISK 13.00 billion to ISK 14.00 billion. The government of Burkina Faso aims to bring mobile and internet access to 1,000 underserved communities by the end of 2026,TechnewsAfrica reported. The scheme is led by the Burkina Faso Digital Transformation Acceleration Project (PactDigital), acting as the primary engine behind the government's nationwide 'Zero White Zones' initiative. Nearly 2,000 localities, representing 10 percent to 12 percent of the country's territory, still lack mobile phone and internet coverage.

EMedia has launched a free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) platform called Openview Streaming in Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius. A phased expansion to other countries is planned. The initial launch list bypasses eMedia's home country of South Africa but it has indicated this is a temporary, strategic decision. Tecnotree said it has received an alternative acquisition bid from an unnamed Canadian technology and media investment company. The digital BSS vendor has been issued a non-binding letter of interest at a provisional share valuation of EUR 7.98 - 9.12 per share, marking a 40 to 60 percent premium on its current market price. Tecnotree stressed that the suitor's valuation is purely indicative and will be adjusted to reflect a due diligence process carried out within 60 days of acceptance.

French infrastructure operator Axione announced a new contract to run a soon-to-be-built data centre that will be located near the city of Pau, in the department of Pyrenees-Atlantiques.
